The inscription also notes that the temple contains gold, pearls and silk. After the fall of the Khmer empire in the 15th century, the temple was abandoned and swallowed by the tropical forests.

At the city center is the national temple of Jayavarman, Bayon temple, and other monuments clustered around the Victory Square.

Built with fine pink sandstones, the walls of the temple are decorated with elaborate floral motifs and scenes in Ramayana epic.
