Built in the reign of King Suryavarman II in the first half of the 12th century, Ankor Wat is the pinnacle of Khmer architecture. Ankor Thom

As the last capital of Khmer Empire, Ankor Thom means great city. The complex was built in the late of 12th century with an area of 9 km2. Ankor Thom includes many temples from the previous periods and Jayavarman temples. Once taking Indochina holidays in Siem Reap, you should not miss this interesting place.

Ta Prohm

Built in 1186, Ta Prohm was a Buddhist temple dedicating to the mother of King Jayavarman VII. This is one of few temples in Angkor complex which provide vivid proofs about Khmer culture and residents inside the temple. The temple was a home of 12,500 people including 18 priests, and 8000 Khmer people. After the fall of Khmer empire in the 15th century, the temple was abandoned in the jungle.

Ta- Keo

Ta Keo is an incomplete temple which is built to worship god Shiva. Ta Keo was built by Jayavarman V, son of Rajendravarman when he was only17 years old. However, the temple has not been completed due to the death of the king.

Pre Rup

With three central towers, Pre Rup looks like a miniature Angkor Wat. Pre Rup is made of gray sandstone. Over centuries of being abandoned, the bas-relieves in the temple complex were not intact due to the rains and erosions. In the past, the temple was used as a place of cremation for royal family members.

Bayon

Bayon temple was built in 12th century as a part of the expansion of Ankor Thom capital by King Jayavarman. Bayon is the only temple in Ankor which dedicates to Mahayana Buddhism.
