Laos Airlines is a new member of IATA (International Air Transport Association). The recent development of the airlines marks a very new promising step. Recently, according to Mr Sengpraseuth Mathouchanh, Vice President Laos Airlines, the carrier are buying 2 ATR72 - 600 aircrafts in 2014 to expand the network of airline services on domestic and international routes.
Lao airlines currently has many modern aircrafts; including 4 Airbus 320 with 158 seats each. Under Laos Airlines plans, the first ATR 72-600 craft will come to Vientiane in May, 2014 and the second will be delivered in October, 2014.
The network of Laos Airlines flight services currently include international routes to cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai in Thailand, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Kunming, Guangzhou and Chiang Hung in China, Siem Reap in Cambodia, South Korea 's Seoul and Busan, Singapore. Laos Airlines is expected to open Vientiane - Yangon (Myanmar) and Vientiane - Malaysia routes in the near future.
Regarding the domestic service, Laos Airlines presently has offered available routes connecting between the provinces of Luang Prabang Vientiane, Champassak, Savannakhet, Xieng Khuang, Oudomxay, Bokeo and Luang Namtha.
Laos Airlines has signed agreements with more than a dozen of airlines around the world including Vietnam Airlines, Thai Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Qantas Airlines, Silk Air, Korean Airlines, Eva Airways and Aeroflot...to facilitate passengers and expand business operations. Currently there are more than 70 Laos Airlines ticketing agencies in Vientiane and the provinces all over the country along with over 400 ticket agencies overseas.
With reasonable and effective policy and business plan, passenger volume of Lao Air is constantly increasing, from 275,000 passengers in 2006 to more than 600,000 in 2012 and is estimated to increase over 2,000,000 passengers in 2014. The aforementioned increase mainly comes from Laos Airlines services which have significantly improved in recent years. The airlines will promisingly powerfully strides in the coming years.
