Con Long Island, Con Lan Island, Con Quy Island and Con Phung Island are called as Four Holy Beasts of orchard. Long, Lan, Quy and Phung are four noble animals; they mean dragon, lion, turtle and special bird respectively. These four islands create an attractive picture of poetic Tien River. These areas become appealing destinations in Mekong Delta discovery.
Although the four islands are located in Tien River, Con Long and Con Lan Islands belong to My Tho City in Tien Giang Province, while Con Quy and Con Phung island belongs Tan Thach Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province. From Ho Chi Minh City, it will take you about 70 km to reach the third biggest bridge of Mekong Delta. This bridge connects two provinces-Tien Giang and Ben Tre. Its name is Rach Mieu Bridge. From this bridges view to the east, you will be surprised by the immense picture of river in front of you. That is the image of these four islands.
To star your Mekong River Delta journey in these four islands, you should hire a boat or ship at My Tho Wharf or An Khanh Commune, in Ben Tre. If you depart from Ho Chi Minh City, it is more convenient for you to hire boat on 30/4 Street. You should travel around all four islands before deciding where you want to stay for eating and relaxing. Among the four islands, Con Long Island is a place where there are a lot of fishing farms and boats fixing stores. Besides, orchards full of fruits are typical images of Dragon Island. Although this island is not as famous as the other ones, you will have chance to enjoy its specialties like durian, cheery and other fruits.
Con Lan Island is also called Thoi Son Island. It is the biggest island in Tien River. Here, tourists will be impressed by corning canals with coconut trees along two sides of canals. Along with coconut trees is image of ladies in Ba Ba shirts with conical hats. All of these images creates the unique beauty of Mekong Delta Vietnam in general and Lan Island in particular.
On contrary, Quy Island is the smallest one in Ben Tre. The most interesting feature in Quy Island is many wild orchards still remains. Here, you can find wonderful places to take a nap and enjoy fresh fruit. Finally, it is Con Phung Island. This is the most attractive destination in this trip. This island is also called Tan Vinh. It emerges amid Tien River like an oasis. Visiting here, you will have chance to contemplate unique ancient architecture such as Dragon Yard, Peace Tower, and discover the special art of making coconut candy of the local people.
