Vietnam Airlines news on expansion of Laos Airlines1784
As Vietnam Airlines has updated, recently, Sengpraseuth Mathouchanh, the Vice President of the national airline of Laos (Lao Airlines) said that the airline had bought two more aircrafts model ATR72-600 in 2014 in order to expand its flight network in both domestic and international routes. The first ATR72-600 will be delivered in May 2014 and the second in October 2014. Laos Airlines is now deploying few modern aircrafts including four 158 seat Airbus A320s.
The current flight network of Laos Airlines include international routes such as flights to Bangkok and Chiang Mai (Thailand); flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam); flights to Kunming, Guangzhou, Jinghong (China); flghts to Siem Reap (Cambodia), flights to Seoul and Busan (Korea); flights to Singapore.
Laos Airlines is now considering to open route from Vientiane to Yangon (Myanmar) and route from Vientiane to Malaysia in near future. Besides the network of international flights, Lao Airlines provides domestic flights connecting Vientiane with other provinces in Laos like Luang Prabang, Champassak, Savannakhet, Xieng Khuang, Oudomxay, Bokeo and Luang Namtha.
Laos Airlines has signed contracts with other airlines in the world such as VN Airlines, Thai Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Qantas Airlines, Silk Air, Korean Airlines, Eva Airways, Aeroflot, etc. so as to expand its business and offer passengers more advantages.
Currently, Laos Airlines has over 70 ticket agents in Vientiane and other provinces in the country and 400 agents abroad. The number of passengers flying with Laos Airlines has been increasing since 2006, from 275,000 passengers in 2006 to 600,000 in 2012 and over 1 million in 2013 thanks to the airlines effective business plan and policies. Particularly, the considerably improved quality in services of Laos Airlines contributes to the development of the airline.
In January 12th 2014, direct flights between Vinh (Vietnam) and Vientiane (Laos) will be officially launched, making it more advantageous for passengers traveling on this route.
