Located in the Gulf of Thailand, Phu Quoc is the largest tourist island of Vietnam. For long time, Phu Quoc has become the famous destination for both domestic and international tourists. To contribute in the development of Phu Quoc tourism and to create the convenient conditions for foreign tourists to Phu Quoc, recently Vietnam Government has issued the new decision about Vietnam visa exemption for those entering Phu Quoc Island.

Under the decision No.80/2013QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, from 10th March, foreigners and Vietnamese having foreign passports can enter, exit and stay in Phu Quoc Island up to 30 days without the Vietnam visa. In the case, foreigners entering Vietnam through one of the international border gates (both by sea and by air), staying in these gates and then traveling to Phu Quoc Island are also eligible to get the visa Vietnam in accordance with this decision.

Hence, the Vietnam visa exemption for foreign tourists is expected to develop Phu Quoc tourism and attract more and more international tourists to this beautiful island. Moreover, with the 30-day-entry exemption, tourists still receive all benefits in this island. Tourists traveling to Phu Quoc can save their time when making and finishing their visa Vietnam on arrival process. Thus, tourists will have more thie to travel and explore famous attractions in Phu Quoc.

In addition, in recent years, Phu Quoc has invested and expanded the infrastructure system to meet the demands of tourists. Among them, Phu Quoc international airport is considered the most important project. December, 2012, ACV opened Phu Quoc international airport with a capital of 3.000 billion. The airport has the runways with the size of 3.000m*45m. It can accommodate large aircrafts such as Boing 777-300, Boeing 747-400 and A380-800. With 8 taxiways, 8 aircraft parking, the station can reach a capital of 2.65 million passengers per year in 2020 and 7 million passengers in 2030. Currently, Vietnam Airlines is offering daily flights to Phu Quoc. So the vacation to Phu Quoc of tourists is easier and more convenient.

To sum up, this decision plays an important role in the development of Phu Quoc in particular and Vietnam tourism I general. This decision has created lost of favorable conditions for international tourists when completing the visa to Vietnam procedure.
